A round tablecloth hand-embroidered by a master of handicraft in Makow tradition. The tablecloth is rimmed with a lace. In the central part the table cloth is adorned with a pattern made of 4 flower bouquets. The borders are decorated with a delicate vegetable pattern. The embroidery is made in a fashion which is traditional of the Maków region with white thread against the white linen background. The Maków region embroidery is one of the most elegant needle-work patterns, characterized by classical beauty, simplicity and subtlety. It is highly appreciated due to its unique elegance.

The cradle of the Maków embroidery is Silesian Beskids, and in particular, the neighbourhood of Maków Podhalański. That is where the name of this embroidery pattern originates from. The Maków embroidery patterns appear to be the most elegant patterns characterized by classical beauty, simplicity and extraordinary subtlety. It is traditionally made with white thread (embroidery floss) on white linen, Therefore it is classified as white embroidery. However, some compositions have different linen or thread colour for the sake of variety.
The Maków embroidery is a flat pattern with perforated elements. There is no play on colours that is so typical of other regional embroidery patterns. Therefore the form is especially well-elaborated. This embroidery pattern is especially recognized for its unique elegance.
Mrs Anna is a recognized embroiderer. She has occupied herself with needlework for over 40 years. She is a member of the Folk Artists Association in Lublin. She participates in numerous folk art fairs and exhibitions nationwide. She presented her works also in Vienna, as well as Slovakia and Czech Republic. She learnt the art of embroidery from her mother. In 1979 they embroidered a tablecloth for the Pope John Paul II. Mrs Anna’s works are highly appreciated in Poland and abroad. They can be found in Australia, the USA and France.
